LIGHT MANTLED ALBATROSS

My first every pelagic was booked for the 19th of october out of simons town south africa but was cancelled due to bad weather,with weather looking grim for my vist for my other three days,i got the welcome phone call we going on the sunday,I did not know what to expect as this is a first for me so climbed aboard on sunday at 7am with 6 others and was told the plan off attack by vince the tour guide the plan was to head 15-20 nautical miles out of cape point and try and find the fishing boats a few miles out we was starting to see loads of cape gannets and sooty and great shearwaters,we found two fishing boats and a long line boat then the fun started i did not know which way to look birds everywhere but thats for another post,this is about the mega albert only the 22nd record of this species in south africa waters ever,at the time we was chasing a spectacled petrel which i spotted which in these waters is a mega as well,then alan the boat owner called albert and vince the tour guide id the bird straight away as a [sooty]light mantled albatross which was just sitting in the sea but was being picked on by kelp gulls we was lucky enough to take some photos close in before it took flight,we soon refound it but it was distance and soon out of are sights
